1 – PARTICIPATION
The second edition of the International Cycling Marathon “La Campionissimo” - fixed in Aprica (SO) for Sunday, June 26th,2015 - is open to all amateur cyclists of both sexes, Italian and foreign, between the ages of 18 and 70, who are members of the FCI or holders of a cycling license 2015 recognized by the UCI. It is also open to cycling club members and cyclists without membership card holding a medical certificate stating that they are in good health.
The competition is open but the Organizing Committee may at its sole discretion decide whether to accept the registration or exclude a cyclist from the event if he/she can damage the image of the race.
Competitors must be aware of the risks and hazards connected with the participation and take full conscious responsibility at their own risk.
In all circumstances cyclists must devote great attention to road conditions and bear in mind that the route is not closed to traffic for the entire duration of the race.
This competition will apply the 2016 Implementing Rules concerning national amateur cycling activities.

2 – REGISTRATION FEES
€ 60 from November 1st, 2015 to June 22th , 2016;
€ 70 from June 26th  to June 26th,  2016, directly on the spot.
Registration fees include race kit, race number, mechanical and medical assistance, refreshments along the route, pasta party, closed guarded parking places, certificate of participation downloadable from the website, shower.

3 – REGISTRATION

Since this race provides different routes (short – medium – long) it’s mandatory to declare the chosen one on enrolment day.
The cyclists who decide to complete a route different from the chosen one will be disqualified.

4 – PICK- UP OF RACE KITS
The checking of membership cards and pick- up of race kits will take place on Friday 24th  June  (3pm – 7pm), on Saturday 25th  (9am – 12pm / 2:30pm – 7:30pm) and on Sunday 26th (5:30am – 7am) at the Sports Hall in Via Magnolta.

 

The race kit of the International Cycling Marathon “ La Campionissimo”  will include an amazing commemorative jersey to collect. Wearing the commemorative jersey during the race is compulsory and those who won’t follow this rule will be disqualified.

5 – RACE START
at 7:30am long route (Km 175)
at 7:40am short route (Km 85)
at 7:50am medium route (Km 155)

6 – TIME LIMIT
The descent Gavia- S.Caterina Valfurva will not be closed to traffic for the competitors travelling through the Gavia Pass after 12pm. Competitors who choose to follow the long route must pass through Aprica before 4:30pm , the time at which the gate leading to P.sso S. Cristina will be closed.

7 – PARTICIPANT WITHDRAWAL
If an athlete is unable to attend the event, the registration fee won’t be refunded. If the notice is received by 8 pm on June  20th, the fee will remain valid for the next edition. Registration fees can be transferred just for one year. Replacements can be made until June 20th upon payment of a 10 Euro processing fee.

8 – CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT
The race will take place regardless of weather conditions, except in extraordinary circumstances that put the safety of competitors at risk. In case of natural disasters, calamities or further dangerous reasons not attributable to the Organization, the event will be cancelled and half of the registration fee will be held valid for the year 2015.

2nd Grid: Merit - First 10 at 2014 edition - subscribers in October (Gran Trofeo Gs Alpi)
3rd Grid: cyclists enrolled in other circuits + subscribers in November
4th Grid: cyclists enrolled in other circuits + subscribers in December
5th Grid: cyclists enrolled in other circuits + subscribers in January and February
6th Grid: according to the date of registration

10 – RACE NUMBERS

11 – AWARDS CEREMONY
Awards will be given to:
The first three winners (m/f) per route;
The first three category winners (short route);
The first five category winners (medium and long route);
The fastest time in the time trial Mazzo-Mortirolo
The three largest teams taking park in the race;
Awards Ceremony – approximately:
-  at 10:30am winners of the short route
-  at 12:30pm winners of the medium route + category winners of the short route
-  at 1:30pm winners of the long route
-  at 3.30pm category winners of the medium route

-  at 4:30pm category winners of the long route
Prizes will be awarded only to the winners attending the ceremony. Under no circumstances prizes will be delivered. In case some prizes are not collected, they will be donated to charity.

12 – TIMING and TRANSPONDERS
Timing service will be provided by MySDAM, using MYLAPS ChampionChip technology.
Participants are supposed to use a chip in order to have their race timed. They will be allowed to use their own personal chip or to rent a daily one.

•    MySDAM A-Chip (only for Italian cyclists)
•    ChampionChip YellowChip (international)
•    Rental daily Chip

BE CAREFUL:
•    If you have a personal chip, write its code on the entry form
•    You can buy/rent a chip on the day of the race, at the “MySDAM” point
•    The price for the daily chip rental is 5€  + 10€  as a deposit. The deposit will be returned when you bring the chip back. Pay attention: you must return the chip within 15 minutes after the last participant crosses the finish line.
•    no chip, no time! Participants not using the chip or not fixing it properly on the bike won’t be listed in the official results.

13 – MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Five ambulances with doctors and nursing staff will be put at your disposal.

14 – MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE
Mobile support vehicles include 4 cars available in case of flat tyre, mechanical assistance and 3 broom wagons. We also offer 3 fixed service points operating near our refreshment stands.
The assistance of private vehicles following the race is strictly forbidden. Besides our 20 Smart there will be 10 motorcycles from the Traffic Police as well as 30 motorcycles to escort cyclists along the routes.

15 – REFRESHMENT POINTS

We provide 8 refreshment points: ascent Gavia  - Gavia Pass – Mazzo – ascent Mortirolo – Mortirolo Pass – ascent S. Cristina – S. Cristina Pass – finish line.

Besides the refreshment points on the Gavia Pass, Mortirolo Pass, you will also find “Gourmet Valtellina”, special stands where to taste regional specialties.

16– ROADS CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
On the occasion of the GF “La Campionissimo” some stretches of the following roads will be closed to traffic:
-    Aprica-Edolo (km 17: from 6:45am to 8:30am).
-    S. Caterina Valfurva – Passo Gavia – S. Apollonia (km 34: from 8am to 12pm).
-    Mazzo – Passo Mortirolo – Trivigno – Pian di Gembro - Aprica (km 38: from 8am to 6pm).
-    Monno – Passo Mortirolo (km 12: from 8am to 10am)

Vehicular traffic will be open along all road stretches not included in the list above or along the roads where the Prefecture won’t opt for a temporary suspension. In these cases, care and full compliance with the rules of the road is compulsory.

17 – PROGRAMME

- at 2pm opening of the expo area (until 11pm);
Saturday 25
- at 9am opening of the expo area (until 11pm);
- at 5:30pm pre-race briefing in the Hall of the Tourist Office;
Sunday 26
- at 6am opening of the starting grids;
- at 7:30am start of the long route (km 175);
- at 7:40am start of the short route (km 85);
- at 7:50am start of the medium route (km 155);
18 – FOLLOWERS AND SUPPORTERS
On Sunday morning all friends and relatives who want to support their athletes and enjoy one of the most beautiful corners of nature in Valtellina can decide to take our shuttle buses and reach the top of the Mortirolo Pass. Right there you’ll also find a special stand where to taste local specialties (bresaola, cheese, wine, etc). In case you are interested in:
BOOKING: Tourist Office – by 6pm on Saturday 25/6
TOKEN PRICE: 10 €
DEPARTURE: 9am at the     Agip petrol station – 12pm first returns

 19– DAY LICENSE
Those who are not members of the FCI, or holders of a CONI membership card, can ask for a FCI DAY LICENSE at a cost of 15€. The license, that must be requested on enrolment day at the secretary’s office, includes cycle insurance too. It’s compulsory to send a copy or submit a medical certificate stating that you are in good health and fit to compete in the Marathon.

20 – DISQUALIFICATION
Competitors wearing the race number of another cyclists, giving the number to others, starting in a grid prior to the one assigned or responsible for any other serious act detected by the Organization will be cancelled from rankings and punished by disqualification from the event from 2 up to 5 years. Competitors are also asked not to throw rubbish on the road and put it in the containers at the refreshment points.

21 – MORTIROLO UPHILL TIME TRIAL
Time performed by Marco Pantani: 43’55”.
All athletes registered in the long or in the medium route will be timed in the stretch of the road between Mazzo and the Mortirolo Pass, while those registered in the short route will be timed in the stretch of road between Monno and the Mortirolo Pass.

22 – CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION
In order to get the certificate of participation stating your time or the uphill time trial certificate, you simply need to download them from the website www.granfondolacampionissimo,com   (not before 30/06/2016).
